What is Community Intelligence?

To me, the word, community, has many different meanings.

The Canadian Oxford Dictionary defines community as “all people living in a specific locality”. It’s also “a body of people having a religion, a profession, etc., in common.” Actually, the Canadian Oxford Dictionary has nine definitions for community.

A community can be your neighbourhood or how you connect to people you know. And that’s the essence of this blog – how you connect with your community by which means of communication.

My plan is to explore the roots of different communities and forms of communication. I invite you to post comments about your definition of a community and what your community means to you. Tell me what tools of communication you use to connect to your community. Is it the Internet, a newsletter or a network of people? What is the most intellegent method of connecting a community?

I’ll discuss my experiences as I’ve lived in five small Alberta towns and two major Canadian cities. I look forward to the discussion.
